Week Update
Jul. 29th, 2005 10:50 pmHmm.... a rundown on my week. ^_^;; Ignore my switching of tenses because I'm tired and still a little queasy.
Monday -- Got up at 7:30 to help out at my aunt's vacation bible school. It wasn't that bad. I just passed out glow sticks and whatnot.
Tuesday -- Got up at 7:40 (go Mom!) to help out at my aunt's vacation bible school. I got to dress up as a guard and threaten to throw all the ickle children to the lions. That was fun, though my dagger broke during the second skit *pouts* and I got a bit flustered by the photographer from the local paper.
Wednesday -- And that's when it goes downhill, heh. I got up at 9 to go to a ten o'clock college physical. Mom made me have a handful of Cheerios even though I was supposed to fast because she knew I'd be getting a lot of blood drawn and she didn't want me fainting. So I get there, and it's all good. Turns out I'm 4'10 not 4'11 like I've been trying to pass off, but that's okay. And I'd only lost like 2 pounds and am 95 pounds so Mom didn't yell like I thought she would. (I don't think she figured it out, really.) But then came the blood drawing. The first nurse was a sweetheart, and brought in this one lady when I mentioned I'd been having stomach issues. That woman, while also nice, was a total worrywort. She's got me signed up for an ultrasound and she did a breast exam *twitch* and is now making me get a mammogram. Then the nice nurse came back and she kept trying to find a vein. She tried for about ten minutes and at last was all, "Aha!" and put the needle in and...missed. Yeppers, missed. So she grabbed another nurse. That nurse stuck another needle in and missed as well. The original nurse grabbed one of the more experienced nurses who felt my arms, shook her head, and went to grab the doctor. Dr. Madrid, who's a total doll, got a vein through my hand and we chatted about Ultraman. He finished and was all happy...and then the nurse handed him a second vial. He was about to cry. Still, he got a deep vein in my elbow and managed to get the blood. He's all happy and bounces out...and the original nurse comes in and goes, "Okay, hon, thanks for being a trooper. Just let me give you your tetnus shot and we'll be all done." She shoots it into my thigh because both of my arms have been stabbed repeatedly by needles, gives a vague warning about side effects, and then sends me off. It's now noon. Mom and I go off to Red Lobster and spend the rest of the day fooling around in Sterling at the mall and Best Buy, which was nice. We then watched "Guys and Dolls" when we got home. Let me just say, I adored Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.
Thursday -- Mom wakes me up at 7:30, and I happily spring out of bed, prepared to play Mary Magdalene and watch TJ be Jesus. Of course, then I fall on the ground because remember those side effects the nurse mentioned? Swelling of the muscle? Headaches? Slight fever? Yep, got 'em all, and I can't walk. So I end up staying home in bed the entire day, reading the Ga'Hoole series when my headache ebbs a bit. Mom and I ended up watching "Holiday Inn." It's a 1942 movie from which many famous songs got their start thanks to Fred Astaire, Marjorie Reynolds, and Bing Crosby. Songs like "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" and "Happy Holidays."
Friday -- I wake up at 7:30 and am like, "Okay, my leg's a bit sore but that's all right..." My stomach was a little queasy, though, and I had bit of an automatic gag thing going on, but I ignored it and got in the car. They needed me to get a suicidal jailer, after all, how could I desert the final day of the bible school? Of course, then I got sick the entire ride there...and so I ended up resting on a couch the entire time while TJ stepped in as the jailer. Then we went straight home and I went to sleep. I've been switching off between watching TV and trying to write, but the writing isn't going too well.
Yeah, so that's been my week. Nice and eventful and for the most part with me in bed sick as a dog. Lovely. Want to know the best part? The nurse called and said they want me to get another blood test for my cholesterol because it was 185 and since I'd had Cheerios they wanted a test where I'd fasted before....
*shakes head* I hope everyone's been feeling less under the weather than I have. Oh, and does anyone know anything about hemoglobin scales? I got like 11.3 and so my mom's yelling at me about being borderline anemic....
