Question for an original story I'm working on:

What would you be charged with if you could have prevented someone's death but refused to do so? Like, if you saw someone getting murdered and didn't call the police or try to intervene. I know there's a certain term for that scenario, but I can't remember what it's called.

I'm pretty sure it's negligent homicide. Depending on your situation and how much lawyering you want to get into, you might be able to twist it into a variation of manslaughter, but I'm a bit fuzzy on the specifics.

... I'm no help at all, but that sounds vaguely like the Good Samaritan law from Seinfeld. Of course, the crime in question was less than murder.
