I really, really hate fics that offer up a pairing and then stealthily insert another pairing into the fic without warning, a pairing I absolutely despise. It's just that if you warn for one pairing in a story, I expect you to warn for the others as well, that's all. *sulks*

Not that I'm not agreeing with what you said, but: I know that in my fic-writing experience I'll subtly insert another pairing for background detail or character-building, in which instances I won't deem "important" enough to warn for. Maybe it's just because there aren't really any pairings I hate, but I sometimes actually enjoy reading stories that are more complex than just A + B = ♥. Of course, I guess it all depends on the actual set-up of the fic itself: my most recent Mitchell/Sheppard fic has a tiny little smidgen of Sam/Rodney in the background, which is in the present moment and doesn't reallyl pertain much to the story as a whole; and then I have some Sheppard/Vala which turns out to be the catalyst for Mitchell and Sheppard's relationship. I didn't warn for either of those simply because it wasn't the primary relationship.

Um, to be really honest, I've been writing this comment in between Law and Order and talking to my awesome dormmates. So, I'm sorry that I seem to have lost the point or something.

Yeah, I get that. It was mostly just me grumbling in frustration because I *hate* the pairing, and I constantly find it sneaking into "gen" and other fics like it's a given, heh. And also, I've had a nasty head-cold since Saturday, so that makes me super-cranky and prone to grumbling. ;)

But ooh, your Mitchell/Sheppard fic sounds good! I will have to investigate when I...don't have four tests this week. *weeps a little*
