...Apparently it is, which I think is neat, so I thought I'd share a poem two three poems. :)

IRRELEVANT
by Everette Maddox

I'm not going to
dignify Mozart
or metaphysics
any longer by
pretending they touch
me. I won't even
say I like these leaves
except as they swirl
against a special
emptiness. Nothing
is relevant since
losing you is what
my life is about.

"Humanity i love you"
by E. E. Cummings

Humanity i love you
because you would rather black the boots of
success than enquire whose soul dangles from his
watch-chain which would be embarrassing for both

parties and because you
unflinchingly applaud all
songs containing the words country home and
mother when sung at the old howard

Humanity i love you because
when you're hard up you pawn your
intelligence to buy a drink and when
you're flush pride keeps

you from the pawn shops and
because you are continually committing
nuisances but more
especially in your own house

Humanity i love you because you
are perpetually putting the secret of
life in your pants and forgetting
it's there and sitting down

on it
and because you are
forever making poems in the lap
of death Humanity

i hate you

"Siren Song"
by Margaret Atwood

This is the one song everyone
would like to learn: the song
that is irresistible:

the song that forces men
to leap overboard in squadrons
even though they see the beached skulls

the song nobody knows
because anyone who has heard it
is dead, and the others can't remember.

Shall I tell you the secret
and if I do, will you get me
out of this bird suit?

I don'y enjoy it here
squatting on this island
looking picturesque and mythical

with these two faethery maniacs,
I don't enjoy singing
this trio, fatal and valuable.

I will tell the secret to you,
to you, only to you.
Come closer. This song

is a cry for help: Help me!
Only you, only you can,
you are unique

at last. Alas
it is a boring song
but it works every time.

Yeah, someone commented on it being National Poetry Month and I was all, "Awesome!" *grins*

You know, I honestly hated e.e. cummings when I was younger. I wanted proper capitalization, damnit. ;) But now he's grown on me. *grin*

I know that you're in college. I think you oughta concentrate on being a lyrical songwriter. Only real good can come of that, sincerely. =) You just need to find a composer that inspires you.

I hated cummings when I was in 7th grade; The older I get, the more I appreciate this guy. But I studied other poets in different languages; and it was a bit tough. One of my very favorites is ABBA. :) Cheers!
