So...we were going to go on a field trip for my Comparative Religions class today. Go to Maryland and see a Buddhist temple, a Hindu temple, a Muslim mosque, a Catholic cathedral, and a Jewish synagogue. Of course, the synagogue bailed so we decided to go to a synagogue about twenty minutes away from the school first and then head off to Maryland.
A great plan. An excellent plan.
It was all going well until the female rabbi (while pleasant and having a cool accent I still can't quite figure out) chattered on and on while we clustered around the Torah and looked at the Hebrew words. It was sometime into the speech that I started feeling sick to my stomach.
So I asked to sit down. A good idea, right?
I thought so too...until I sat down and fainted. My poor teacher -- it was her first time on a field trip. One minute I was sitting in the chair and moving to rest my head on the arm chair, and then next I was staring into her face, flat on my back. Luckily the other chaperone was the Health teacher.
Then they had to follow through with protocol and call an ambulance. I've never been in an ambulance -- I didn't WANT to be in an ambulance. Still, the emergency people were nice. They took my blood pressure and didn't seem worried by the number. Then my teacher called my mom.
So I got to get scolded at over the phone about how I need better nutrition and it was my own fault and I shouldn't expect her to leave school and drive me home. So one of my friends on the field trip offered to, since we were only twenty minutes away from the school. I got my mom's permission and Kelsey drove me home.
So now I'm at home waiting for Mom to come home at 4 or 5 and wondering if Kelsey enjoys the free day she got by driving me home (she said they could go off to Maryland without her since they were already running late and my teacher told her she had an excused absence and could go home rather than go back to school).
...At least I got to see the Jewish synagoguge. That counts for something, right?
....
Right?
All in all, I got home at 10:30. That means my field trip lasted approximately an hour and a half. Yay.

Date: 2005-01-14 04:04 am (UTC)On the other hand, my grandma turned 78 today. I'll have to give her a gift since I suspect most of the family wasn't in a "Happy Birthday" mood once Uncle Scott went to the hospital....
But yes, I'm better. Don't want to go to school tomorrow, but that's an every day occurence. ^_~
