This is about THE scene, y'know which one I'm talking about, and, uh, certain shippers' reactions to it.
Sheppard: Shouldn't you guys be bickering or something?
McKay: We've got nothing to bicker about. *points to Zelenka* He's run out of bad ideas. Finally.
Zelenka: If we survive this, I'm putting in for a transfer.
McKay: Oh, please. We both know you've done your best work under me.
Zelenka: Under you? I am my own department head, you know!
McKay: Please, we know that department's a joke!
Sheppard: Would you two guys just make out and get it over with?
First off, let me just say how much I love the fact that Sheppard is now the Big Gay Yenta of Atlantis. That just rules.
But what's tickling me the most? The reaction of the McShep folks.
Now, honestly, I'm not trying to gloat or anything like that, but c'mon, this was M/Z's moment of gold! McSheppers have their own community dedicated to turning every episode into McShep subtext, and some of them are up in arms about a single scene that scores a point for McKay/Zelenka? C'mon folks, seriously, chill.
*grins* So, far they've been mostly going, "Projecting much," or "OMG, OOC moment! *flail*" or pointing out how IMMEDIATELY afterwards Sheppard and McKay do a mind-meld (even though, um, that's like Mind-meld - M/S - 1, M/Z - 100, dudes).
I'm posting some of the more humorous reactions of McSheppers so far. Anonymous, because otherwise it'd be outright mocking, methinks.
Meh, he said [just make out and get it over with]? If he did, 'tis only cos he's jealous.
The make out line... that was spoken like a man who's in luuuuurve (and more than a little frustrated--Stupid Replicators and their Stupid laser beams--that *he* can't make out with McKay while they plan on saving the day)
However bad the two nerds are, soon as John and Rodney start going at it (and they do! merely seconds later!) its with so much more heat. The whole back-and-forth conversation was gold: GOLD! Best John/Rodney moment EVER!!!!
[Sheppard's] criteria seems to be bickering = you should make out, which means holy god, he and McKay must've been shagging like rabbits since the moment they met.
John telling Zelenka and Rodney to make out because it's his defense mechanism. He is totally JEALOUS.
That was the one thing in this episode that annoyed me, being that it came waaaay out of the fucking blue. Like [name deleted] said, if bickering and picking on each other is a sign of UST, then John and Rodney have been doing it - with extreme prejudice - since the first hour they landed on Atlantis.
*shakes head* So much more heat? Seriously? And I love how Sheppard and McKay's single mind-meld apparently cancels out ALL of McKay and Zelenka's. That's just...hilarious.
And let me just point out this from "The Seige II," one of McKay and Zelenka's numerous mind-melds, thank you. (Hey,
firebubbles310, isn't this the snippet I showed you that got you into SGA, or was that totally a dream I had?)

*cough*
I'm torn between Sheppard/McKay, Zelenka/McKay, Sheppard/Beckett, and Sheppard/Ronon.
I love my slashy show.
And Sheppard with all his 'Big Gay Yenta' stuff is awesome.
*hugs Atlantis*

Date: 2007-02-07 09:30 pm (UTC)Sheppard IS the Big Gay Yenta. Methinks he's planning on figuring out who's gay on Atlantis and setting up a speed-dating night for them or something. (And then finds out half of them are already shacked up and is saddened that his speed-dating night falls through.)

Date: 2007-02-07 08:58 pm (UTC)I think I'm glad I dug far down enough in my side of the sandbox that I mostly don't even see the McSheppers any more.
Soggy Anus just ain't my style. ;)

Date: 2007-02-08 02:34 am (UTC)*can't quite help snickering* I mean, they have their own community dedicated to turning every conversation between McKay and Sheppard into subtext, and yet, hello, "make out already"? It's just so AWESOME.
Even if I wasn't a M/Z fan, I'd be cackling at the McSheppers and their pissiness and trip to Denialville. *continues to snicker quietly in the corner*

Date: 2007-02-08 03:34 am (UTC)I don't ship anything in SGA, really, except for the occasional McKay/Beckett, but wow. M/Z is starting to have its appeal... (Or maybe I'd just ship it to annoy McShep fans.)

Date: 2007-02-08 07:05 pm (UTC)Like I said in earlier comments, I like M/S when it's well-written enough to throw me off my view of their brotherly love (and damn if some of McShep fics aren't well-written enough to do that), I just...adore the old married couple that is M/Z. *grin*

Date: 2007-02-08 05:27 am (UTC)I seriously almost died laughing at the Make Out moment. Amazing. And, of course, my mind went to "Okay, John totally knows Rodney has a crush on Radek and he loves him enough to share" *grins* Doesn't hurt, of course, that Radek is a hot piece of Czech, too.
One of my favourite moments in the episode, besides the Make Out, was Rodney and Radek talking together about the nuke. And, also, Shep's OMGBIGDORK moment with the Fantastic Four. That was amazing. I thought Teyla and Ronon were going to crack up when he left. But, alas. No hot Satedan laughter.
Oh, and "You do your best work under me" Yesh. Exactly.

Date: 2007-02-08 07:15 pm (UTC)See? I'm surprised the McShep fans aren't just shrugging and going, "Hey, threesome!" Come on, everything is solved with a threesome! (It actually worked for a movie I saw the other week, which...pleased me.)
God, Teyla and Ronon love fucking with Sheppard, don't they? *grins* Well, it's just so easy. I now expect to see fics with them watching the new Fantastic Four movie.
Rodney: *stares at screen* "Jessica Alba is Sue Storm? But she's Mexican!"
Sheppard: *shrug* "So? She's hot. And they made her blonde, so don't complain."
Rodney: *mutters and steals Sheppard's popcorn*

The two Team Shep Aliens loove messing with John. You know they knew what he was talking about. I bet they do that a lot.

Date: 2007-02-08 09:47 pm (UTC)*snickers* Sounds like a good theory to me. Or distracted by wondering if Sheppard had somehow walked in on their 'last' argument.... ;)

Yep, shippers in general can silly, but the silliness is a good time nonetheless. *grin*
