I just finished reading this and I cannot rec it highly enough. The art is gorgeous, the coloring is beautiful, and the story and characters are fantastic.
Set in the 19th century, Delilah Dirk is a "globetrotting troublemaker" who delights in traveling, adventures, and mayhem. During her travels, she meets Erdemoglu Selim, a lieutenant in the Turkish Janissary Corps who finds himself caught up in her latest adventure despite his general interests being "friendship, quiet conversation, and tea."
Both Delilah and Selim are well-rounded, fascinating individuals, and the rest of the characters the readers meet within the story are also fleshed out and real in ways other comics sometimes fail to achieve. I find myself longing to know more about both Delilah and Selim and their further adventures, as well as more about Delilah's fascinating childhood and adventures pre-Selim.
If you're looking for a comic that has awesome female characters, exciting scenes, and a lovely slow development of a friendship between two very different individuals, I recommend Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant.
Tony Cliff, the creator of the comic, offered these ways of buying it:
