Started feeling icky on Thursday night. I'd been hacking all week so I didn't think much of it. Went to bed and tossed and turned the whole night through. At 6:20 on Friday morning I woke up and tried to stand because I needed to use the bathroom. It was then that I got really dizzy and stumbled my way towards the restroom which is luckily right across the hall.
I curled up by the toilet because oddly enough being in a bathroom gets rid of my nausea--most of the time. My mom wandered in, and felt my forehead and announced I had a slight fever. She asked me if I wanted to stay home.
Now, let me put this in perspective for you. In kindergarten, I missed school for six days because I had the chicken pox. In first grade, I missed a day because of a stomach virus. Then I didn't miss another day of school until last year when I didn't sleep a single wink and started crying at the thought of going to school.
So when my mother asks if I want to stay home, it's a big deal. Unfortunately, I had a huge Latin test that day so I was trying to convince her to let me go to take the test when I, er, threw up. That ended the discussion. My mother said I should have some chicken soup and drink lots and lots of liquids, and then hurried off because otherwise she'd have been late and she had outdoor bus duty.
I stumbled into my mom's bedroom and flopped on the bed, but there's nothing on at 6:30. When I tried to get up though, I kept feeling like someone was slamming me on the top of the head and I'd sink back down. I got my brother to call Chrissy to tell her I didn't need a ride.
Of course, then TJ left and I still couldn't stand up. I finally managed to stumble out to the family room, grabbed a bottle of water, and collapsed on the couch. Unfortunately, I couldn't get up after that, and so I was stuck on the couch until 3 o'clock when my dad came home.
I went to bed at, oh, 10 o'clock, and woke up feeling great, aside from a midly irritated throat. I went and reffed a game, which was fine. Unfortunately, during the second game, it started raining and I kept trembling. Then my hands went numb and I started getting woozy again. I found another referee to do the second half of the game and Mom picked me up.
Then I took an hour long bath, which cleared up my chest. Of course, then I went to a writing convention at Tysons to accept my award for being a Finalist at the Noreascon/Worldcon Story Contest. Got a kick-ass T-shirt, a $10 gift certicate to Barnes and Nobles, and a pretty certicate.
Of course, then I got dizzy again and we came home. Right now I'm feeling decent albeit with a scratchy throat, but my sides keep randomly plaguing me with pain.
...I think I'm going to bed in early again.
