Red vs Blue: S17:E2 - Everwhen

I’m a First member, but I’m going to be posting my reactions behind a cut to avoid spoiling anyone. So here are my thoughts on the second episode of the season!

• I am so excited for a Donut-centric season, you guys. So excited!
• Especially if we're getting to actually address Wash shooting Donut. Of course this would be one of his strongest memories. (Another one is probably having that grenade exploded on his head.) And I had remembered Simmons' distress, but this scene where Donut gets into a memory loop (hey, nice parallel to Wash watching Jax film the scene of him getting shot multiple times) and Simmons yelling in alarm and concern for him is a good moment of another Red actually showing their true feelings for Donut. They care about him!
• Donut hopping into a memory from season 15 also begs the question of where's Doc, Kai, and Carolina??? Where are they???
• Someone please do a parallel gif set of Donut being like "internal bleeding is no biggie" and Jake from B99 being like "blood's supposed to be on the inside!" because that's great.
• You know things are bad when even Tucker is tired of innuendos. And the idea that Donut never realized what he was saying a la Tobias Funke, is HILARIOUS to me. And Donut's just "oh my god, I can hear myself talk."
• Donut trying to be so careful with his words is great.
• Man.... If the show wanted me to ship Sarge/Washington, they succeeded. Like I already shipped Sarge one-sidedly pining after a certain PSA, but Wash is so supportive of him here, and Sarge's flustered little "Aw, shucks!" killed me.
• I am really hoping that this season will address the Wash shot Donut thing. Like I love Wash, but Donut definitely deserved an apology rather than Wash brushing it off as a joke.
• I am so proud of Simmons and his character growth over the seasons, but also I love mid-series petty Simmons who's furious that Donut is stealing his lines.
• I love that Grif is the one who's struggling with deja vu and halfway to believing Donut until Sarge convinces him otherwise. This stuff sounds familiar! Maybe because of his final conversation with Genkins? Also Grif pointing out that their entire goddamn life is so weird, why not believe Donut time-traveled from the future to talk to them?
• "If you're from the future, what am I thinking about right now?" "I don't know!" "oh my gosh, I don't know either!!!!" I love Caboose so much.
• Chrovos's speech rang true to me. How would you handle being locked up for eons, alone? Half-joking, half-serious, I think this whole problem could be solved by the Reds and Blues adopting Chrovos. Like, they adopted Carolina and Wash, Caboose adopted Freckles, why not befriend a lonely AI and convince Chrovos it'd be more fun to run around the universe.
• Donut's so smart, figuring out that Wash is a man outside of time. And I want this potential Wash and Donut awkward time-travel road trip.
• But also...where are Carolina, Kai, and Doc???

I am definitely enjoying more focus on Donut! And that this episode (kind of) dealt with some of the problems I had with the plot set-up from the first episode, although in general the time travel stuff is still a bit of a mess. XD

Even in repetition, that shot doesn't get less awful. D: Poor Donut. (I didn't notice that parallel but that's a great catch!) I am DYING for more Donut & Wash interaction, especially if they finally talk some things out.

INDEED, WHERE ARE DOC AND KAI AND CAROLINA. Give us some Carolina-centric alternate timelines to play with, at least!! D: I KNOW SHE'S IN THIS SEASON SOMEWHERE, RT, DELIVER PLEASE.

I'm a little torn on "Donut never knew how he sounded," because on one hand, it's hilarious if he really didn't know, but on the other hand, I also loved the idea of him doing it on purpose to mess with everyone else... It's great either way, so I guess I'm just a little sad to have that ambiguity resolved?

Caboose is always a gift. Oh, Caboose. ♥

DEFINITELY ADOPT CHROVOS, REDS AND BLUES. Do it! Chrovos can be the new Freckles!!

... I also cannot remember whether spoiler cuts work in comments so I won't risk it, but I am both furious and delighted about a certain scene in this week's episode, so if you want to hit me up in DW messages to talk about it PLEASE DO.

ETA: Actually never mind messaging, I made a post on my DW for this week's episode. XD (Although messaging is also still fine if you prefer!) AND I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT I LOVED THE SARGINGTON MOMENT IN THIS EPISODE, IT WAS ADORABLE, whoops I guess I can throw this onto my pile of 10,000 RvB ships for sure.

Oh yeah, I don't understand time travel at all, lol. Like, in this alternate timeline where Wash was Shrodinger's cat of being shot and not shot, were there still Reds and Blues? The ones who witnessed him stumble into the line of fire and be okay? What happened with them? Did they decide to stay on Earth? Did they go to Chorus? Why would he and Carolina not be on speaking terms, is it because she kept trying to get him help even when he was so clearly messed up? Inquiring minds want to know.

I will hop over to your post, haha. But yes, I didn't think I'd come out of season 17 with a new rare pair, but okay. (But also, Kai needs to show up so she can hit on Chrovos. COME ON, SHOW.)

It makes nooooooo sense! None at all! I'm willing to roll with it, but - it's total nonsense. (When "the bomb blew us into the future because we were facing forward but it blew Church into the past because he was facing the other way" actually feels MORE logical, you know you got some problems going on. XD )

LET SISTER HIT ON EVERYONE. I've had off and on Sargington feelings before, but that moment was just too adorable!
