Red vs Blue: S17:E1 - A Sitch in Time
Mar. 9th, 2019 12:30 pmI’m a First member, but I’m going to be posting my reactions behind a cut to avoid spoiling anyone. So here are my thoughts on the first episode of the season!
- Deja vu for the Red Team!
- “Your heterosexuality has been noted.” Haha, I love that Genkins is already halfway broken and he’s only been masquerading as Church for like a couple of hours.
- Welp, there goes the hammer.
- Apparently Genkins isn’t fully in on the plan after all. But also Chrovos turning into a duplicate of Genkins and yeah, that WOULD get weird. And then turning into Donut because he hasn’t seen anyone else other than Doc and Genkins in like….thousands of years. Also, hey, I love Donut’s voice! Rude.
- Listen, I’m here for genderfluid gods, just as long as we also get some characters on the good side being explicitly not-straight as well. Also, can it, Genkins, let your grandfather be a hot woman if he wants!
- So Donut partially succeeded– Chrovos is still trapped, but the wards are clearly cracked. Which is probably why Genkins still has to mess around with the Reds and Blues.
- Haha, okay the exchange about there being more at stake than his friends and Donut’s final horrified “AMERICA?” made me pause the ep to laugh.
- Yep, they’re creating paradoxes to weaken Chrovos’s prison.
- Okay, some of these alternate timelines are fun, though poor Tucker. And also of course Sarge adopts Caboose onto the Red Team in at least one universe.
- Donut being able to jump into his past selves! Sort of a mix of Quantum Leap and Sliders. This is going to be such an interesting season and I’m excited for it!

Date: 2019-03-09 11:11 pm (UTC)Red Team Sarge and Caboose was SO CUTE, I'm dead of it.
It'll be very interesting to see how this season works out! Especially since it's hard to imagine how anything could be fixed without making everything worse...

Date: 2019-03-10 12:09 pm (UTC)I mean, we all knew Sarge adopted Caboose, especially when the last PSA has him taking Caboose to the art museum! But it's nice to have it in canon that Sarge formally adopts him. :D
Yeah, I was a little too happy from Donut getting to be the main character to look at the episode with any sort of critical lens. Now that I've thought about it, I really don't know how he can succeed, if everything he does breaks the prison a little more. Also....where did Genkins put the real Alpha?? Oh well, I'm still going to enjoy seeing all the alternate universes we get this season.

Date: 2019-03-10 08:15 pm (UTC)... shit, now I'm just sad about Church YET AGAIN. D: Oh, no. Church's life is also suffering, no matter the universe! And yeah, if nothing else, surely there will be so much interesting fodder for canon-divergent fics/fics playing with the various AUs we see (and art and stuff, too).
