 I wish I had voksen's mind control powers so I could actually get someone to write this AU for me, hahaha. 

So over on Tumblr, I was doing a Tumblr head canon meme, and a friend prompted me with "Les Miserables, library AU, please include the Amis" and then this ridiculousness happened. 

• Enjolras is an archivist who rails against the current cataloging standards and eventually gets everyone to help him work to try and create something that is not so American and Euro-centric and works globally to create an actual international standard that works for more countries
• Combeferre wavered between becoming a medical librarian or a museum archivist but ultimately became a medical librarian at the local hospital 
• Feuilly is a special subject librarian at a local university whose background is in politics and world history— undergrads especially love him because he’s patient with them and is willing to teach them how to use the databases
• Joly is just finishing up library school and is currently interning at the same library Combeferre works at, with the hopes that he’ll get to work there full-time after graduation 
• Courfeyrac is a law librarian, which is how he and Bossuet met Marius, and is known for flirting with pretty much all the law students and lawyers who come to the library for help
• Bossuet and Bahorel are still in school because they keep switching tracks and waffling on what they actually want to do
• Prouvaire is still in school but he wants to be an archivist and is especially interested in the Romantic period
• Marius is a law librarian as well, though he also does translations of German law books into English as well to pick up some extra money
• Valjean is the manager at a small branch library in a troubled area of the city, although the library has flourished under his care— they do a lot of work with at-risk kids and teens and the local schools
• Cosette is still in school, but she wants to work with her father and probably be a children’s librarian— not sure how she and Marius meet in this one, but probably not through anything even remotely library-related 
• Eponine is also still in school, but she eventually becomes an archivist who works for the city’s equivalent of the Folger Shakespeare Library, one that focuses on theatre history, who finds herself drawn into Valjean and Cosette’s sphere by collaborations between her library and Valjean’s 
• Javert previously worked in circulation and did not actually have to interact with people, just follow all of the rules set forth by the library system, so he’s in for a bit of a shock when he’s transferred to Valjean’s small branch and a) has to interact with customers and b) has to deal with Valjean’s laid-back style
• Gavroche eventually becomes a moving images archivist, though he gets in trouble a lot for insulting people who do stupid stuff and mess up the preservation of the materials (also no one is allowed to mention in his presence how few films survive from the Pre-Code era-- the last time Bahorel did, he and Gavroche were banned from that particular bar for life after Gavroche got up on a table and started ranting) 

But my real question now is:

How many of them have jackets with the words “Punk ass book jockeys” on the back? Definitely Eponine, but I feel like Courfeyrac might because he thinks it’s hilarious and Bahorel definitely would even though technically he’s not a librarian yet.
