Graduation
Jun. 18th, 2005 02:03 pmThe ceremony was nice, a lot less boring than I thought it would be. Our speaker was this guy who won bronze at Sydney for swimming. He was nice and well-spoken, and I was glad it was him. Better than the CIA guy they had last year who rambled on and on, apparently.
I also thought our valedictorian did very well, shaky voice and "um's" and all. She was very honest and very inspiring. I haven't liked her in the past, but I do respect her after that.
Mr. Black was also great with his very short speech. I was quite happy about his hand not being disgusting. Thank gods for the moderate weather -- it was about 70 the entire time with a very lovely breeze.
I didn't trip or shake Mr. Black's wrong hand or forget to flip my tassel. I did get hit in the head with a cap when we threw them into the air -- damn those things are HARD. I got hugged by Mr. Prosser but I can deal with that. ^_~ I got to say good-bye to Mr. Krepich, Ms. Stevens, Mrs. Duvall, Mrs. Austin-Kelly, um...other teachers. I didn't really see any of my friends. I talked to Trevor while we were seated, that's about it.
The really bad shit all happened afterwards, but I swore I'd write a cheerful LJ for my next entry and I'm sticking to that promise. I might do a rant later, but that usually ends up upsetting me more rather than helping me vent....
So I hope everyone had a great graduation, found their parents in the hordes upon hordes, got a ride home, found their caps and kept their gowns to give to the teachers so they got their diplomas, and have a great rest of the day.
