Okay, enough with the nicknames
Feb. 23rd, 2007 09:20 pmNo. Seriously.
First, it was Rad for Radek. Just...no. Zelenka would beat anyone who tried seriously calling him that and I wouldn't blame him, because that's almost as bad as Rod (and I still giggle like a five-year-old whenever I type that for my MENSA-verse fic).
Then there was the 'ship nicknames. McLenka. McShep. McBeck. All of which make me want a Happy Meal. Can't we just go with McKay/Sheppard, McKay/Zelenka, etc? It's not THAT hard to write the full names, really!
...And now it has invaded Heroes. Now, I don't ship Heroes. I don't even really read the fanfics, because the main pairings are both incest-y for that show, and yeah...so don't see them together. But for amusement (amusement = bored out of my mind), sometimes I will read Heroes fics.
I decided to sample Sylar/Mohinder because I love train-wreck, doomed relationships. What I didn't realize was that the crap nicknames have invaded the fandom already. Mylar? Mylar? Are you freaking kidding me? I'm half-surprised it didn't end up being Molar or something.
...Do I even WANT to know what they're calling Claude/Peter? Cleter? Plaude? I think I'll 'plod' along to cry into my pillow now. *rolls eyes*
