Movies, movies, everywhere
Nov. 4th, 2006 02:23 pm*has given up on my computer, since it won't even let me access IMDB.com*
So, yesterday was insane and fun. As soon as I got out of class, we went out and ran around town. As in, we went to the Hong Kong buffet and stuffed ourselves with exotic Chinese, mmm.... I need to remember what the date stuff was that I loved. Yum.
Then we went and saw not one movie but two movies at the theater, lol. Chrissy and Jessi went to see The Departed and Ellie and I went to see The Prestige. Apparently The Departed was hilarious, as long you don't mind bloody, vulgar humor (which we all do *grins*).
Oh my god, The Prestige was amazing. Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Scarlet Johansson, and Michael Caine were all utterly brilliant.
Summary: A story of rival magicians who are determined to out-do each other. It is a tale how far (or perhaps how low) obsession can take a person.
Alfred Borden: Are you watching closely?
Yes, I was watching closely, and was utterly enthralled. It was one of those movies that makes you think, and then has this marvelous twist at the end, where you have a sudden epiphany and go, "Oh, everything makes sense now!" God, it was brilliant. I'm so going to buy that when it comes out on DVD.
...And then we watched Borat together. *snickers* Or rather Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan -- just the title should reveal what utter, glorious crack the movie was. Oh, and the summary.
Summary: Kazakhstani TV personality Borat is dispatched to the United States to report on the "greatest country in the world." With a documentary crew in tow, Borat becomes more interested in locating and marrying Pamela Anderson than on his assignment.
Borat Sagdiyev: This is Natalya.
[He kisses her passionately]
Borat Sagdiyev: She is my sister. She is number four prostitute in whole of Kazakhstan.
[She holds up a trophy and smiles]
Borat Sagdiyev: Niiice!
God, it was hilarious. Made fun of everyone and everything, and I was giggling nonstop. Some parts were Jackass-humor and made me gag a bit, but God, the rest of it, was so, so funny. I was doubled over in my seat. ...And what made it best of all was that we were in the first row, so we were up close and personal, lol.
I highly recommend both of these movies. The Prestige if you're looking for a thought-provoking, intriguing plotline and Borat if you need a laugh. *grins*
And then we wandered around Wal-Mart and I resisted my dorky urge to buy Mighty Morphing Power Rangers (Ooze, man!) and then we went back to Chrissy and Jessi's room and watched the almost, kinda, sorta, maybe sequel to The Rocky Horror Picture Show which is called Shock Treatment. It pretty much kept Janet and Brad (though not the actors) and three of the actors (but not the characters - *pats Riff Raff, Magenta, and Columbia*). It was-- interesting, though I don't remember most of it since it was 4 AM by the time I went back to my dorm, lol.
Yeah, fun day. :)
