I got accepted to Alpha again this year. However, I think I have to decline.

My father won't let my brother go to the college he wants to go to because it's too expensive, so I feel like I'm the favorite when Dad's willing to spend money to send me to Alpha over the summer.

Also, this is the last summer before I go off to college. I really feel I need to get a job to try and help my mother relax and feel that I'm mature enough to survive college. I really would love to go to Alpha, but I really think I need to look at the bigger picture and realize that I need to face reality and stop being pampered. I need to get serious about my life and get a job so that I'm not seriously in debt after college.

I'm going to talk to my mother tomorrow after school about it. She'll probably try to talk me out of it, but I'm sick of being favored over my brother, who's so much more patient and mature than I am. Alphans, just know I hope you all enjoy your summer and that I wish I could be there with you.

Please wait to make any decisions until you absolutely have to (~June 1). In a couple of weeks, you might change your mind, or circumstances might change or, I don't know, the world might end, so it'll be a mute point.

You're a rock. I can't imagine you think you're pampered. And just about everyone is in debt after college--but those loans have such great terms and such low rates, people hang onto them as long as they can. It isn't such a bad thing. And you might get a job just because you go to Alpha--like a publishing, editing, writing-type position.

I know, only you know the exact situation right now, but please think it through again.
