Look, Ma! My very own filk!
Mar. 6th, 2006 03:35 amBased on Bonnie Tyler's "I'm Holding Out for a Hero" -- not a very good filk, but after the shittiness of the Oscar winners tonight, I needed to do it, lol.
Where have all the good movies gone
And where are all the stars?
Where's the moving visionary
To raise the standard bar?
Isn't there a film that will change the world?
Late at night I toss and turn and dream
of a new film unfurled
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the year
He's gotta be quick
And he's gotta be smart
Among his foolish peers
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the New Year light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Somewhere in the audience
In the third or second row
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's some vision meant to grow
Moving like magic upon that silver screen
It's gonna take pure magic to give me what I need
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the year
He's gotta be quick
And he's gotta be smart
Among his foolish peers
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the New Year light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Up where the silver screen shines like the sun
Out where words can change anything
I could swear there's some potential
Something
Through the horrible nominations
And the grief and the pain
I still feel some hope
That things can change."
I'm sorry, but the nominations were crap..... *goes off to sulk* It used to be that Oscars set the scene for political change. Not anymore. I'm sorry, but they played the safe card this year, picking Crash. They played the safer anti-racism card, and shied away from the anti-homophobia card. They could've helped set the stage for people to be more accepting of the homosexual community! I'm sorry, but look at the political issues here: there is racism, but there's also affirmative action; there's homophobia, and then there's Don't Ask, Don't Tell, the banning of gay marriages....
Sorry if my rant offended anyone. *goes off to actually sulk this time*
