Catching Up

 Well, all DC libraries are closed until at least the first of April, so after a visit to my mom's place over the weekend to ensure she was taking this seriously and a dentist appointment, I've been social distancing by way of catching up on podcasts, reading a lot of books, and hammering away at the season finale of my Teenage Witch AU. 

I had to stop looking at my emails because everything from various theater companies was sending my anxiety sky-rocketing, and I am worried for my brother, who's an assistant manager at a grocery store and working eleven hour days, but otherwise I'm doing okay.

In good news, after my kidney stone over Thanksgiving I switched to a new diet which involved a lot more dairy and a lot less oxalate-rich food like spinach and nuts. I'd noticed that my acid reflux/heartburn was much less frequent, almost non-existent, but I didn't realize that it was also improving my teeth health, but my dentist was very happy with me, so I'll definitely be sticking with this diet. ...I do love spinach though. 

But yes, been reading a lot of books, and will probably do a separate post on that!

Also been marathoning Campaign: Skyjacks, which is a wonderful fantasy podcast with amazing worldbuilding and great characters. After that I have a couple other things in my queue so I don't strain my eyes reading too much: Wolf 459, Rusty Quill Gaming, You Must Remember This, Making Gay History, Ars Paradoxica, and Stella Firma.

Let me know if you have any podcast recs! I don't do horror, but am looking for anything LGBTQA related for sci-fi-, fantasy, and history!

I had to stop looking at twitter for the same reason and block notifications from all of my news apps. The constant flood of news was way too much for The Anxiety. Glad you're doing okay otherwise. It's a rough time right now.

I might dig into some more podcasts during the isolation as well! Though right now it's hard to tear myself away from listening and re-listening to The Penumbra, heh.

I am not a huge narrative podcast person myself, but I know many people who love The Strange Case of the Starship Iris, and before my natural inability to follow long-term serialized storytelling kicked in, I really enjoyed The Far Meridian.

Yeah, I don't go on Twitter or even have news app, but I've gone to a lot of theater over the years and every single one has obviously had to update their patrons about the situation and yeah. Had to just avoid my email for a bit.

Haha, yes, I'm like "I will listen to this podcast and this podcast" like I'm probably not going to just relisten to Penumbra once I catch up to Skyjacks....

I've listened to and enjoyed Starship Iris, but I don't think I've heard of The Far Meridian so I will have to check that one out, thanks for the rec!

Well, I can't help but be excited about the season finale, but - sucks about the circumstances. D: *hugs if desired* It is a stressful time all around.

That is great about the diet! I may have to make a few adjustments myself...

The season finale is at 14,000 words and I just got to the final scene, so I'm almost there!

Yeah, like the diet won't work for everyone because it boils down to "eat three servings of dairy EVERY DAY and drink water, also try vegetables and fruit" but it's been really working for me!
