Red vs Blue: S17:E3 - Schrodingin'

I’m a First member, but I’m going to be posting my reactions a week behind to avoid spoilers. So here are my thoughts on the third episode of the season after a second rewatch!

• Listen, this is my second watch through and I’m still SO MAD that Genkins killed Junior. LET TUCKER BE A DAD AGAIN.
• Okay, that whole timeline is depressing if I think about it too much, but Locus’s disbelieving, “Knives…..?” when Genkins claims that that’s what Felix is most afraid of made me laugh a lot. So many flashes of weird timelines– who did Freckles kill? cube Church/Genkins exploding! Tex and Andy getting a ship dropped on them!
• Dr. Grey! I love her so much. I totally believe she would scam insurance companies out of money, considering how often they screw people over, though I’m a bit iffy that she would let Washington walk around clearly mentally unstable like that. Also, if this the timeline where he wasn’t shot and still has those memories, where are the other Reds and Blues who didn’t see him get shot? Did he still get taken by Locus back to Chorus because he was loopy from almost dying in Temple’s locked room, and then he just stayed loopy? Did the Reds and Blues get a pizza? Where’s Carolina? (Please, I’m begging you, show, where’s Carolina???) But also loopy Wash making funeral cannons that shoot corpses into the ground is exactly an idea Sarge would think is amazing, so more points for Sargington and/or Sarge/Grey.
• Wash stuck between two timelines was actually really creepy and sad! The jump between sane and loopy was so sudden and poor Wash sometimes knowing something was wrong and sometimes oblivious. “Emily’s a smart cookie and you’re a donut!” I was so happy when Donut got him straight again, but that was a great line.
• Why are Carolina and Wash never speaking again in this timeline??? WHY? Like, did she get convinced that him claiming to have been shot was all in his head and told him to get help, or what? I just want Carolina back.
• Was John Wayne Wash’s butler?
• I love that Wash’s first thought is to kidnap people. I mean, in his defense, it kind of worked out for him last time? But also don’t kidnap people, Wash.
• “My children may be AI, but I am time itself, young man!” I love Chrovos.
• Time travel confuses me so much, but I think folks who guessed that Wash is going to have to like shoot himself to let himself get shot to restore the timeline are probably right. Wash is so smart. And that bit where he knows Genkins is behind him and just points the gun at him without really looking at him was a good bit.
• Unfortunately not smart enough to keep a hold of that time gun. Not sure how they can travel through time together without it, even if Donut has the ability to jump back into himself. It’ll be interesting to see where they go from here!
