Oh, hell no
Oct. 5th, 2007 02:24 pmSo it's Family Weekend this weekend, right? You know, where parents come to see how their precious darling is doing at college, etc.
Earlier in the week, roommate was annoying me by being oh so shocked that my parents weren't coming! (Yes, parents, even though I've told her repeatedly I'm estranged from my father, thank you very much.) But I just sort of rolled my eyes and ignored her.
Yeah, about fifteen minutes ago, my roommate mentioned off-handedly that oh, she doesn't know if her mom got a hotel yet and if that's the case, her mom'll be staying in our room.
...You read that correctly. No, "Oh, is it okay if my mom stays here?" Not even a, "I hope you don't mind, even though everyone's known the date for Family Weekend for months now so she should have gotten a hotel room MONTHS AGO."
Gah. And I was looking forward to a relaxing weekend too.
ETA: Feeling a bit better now that I've been to the school library. Snagged:
Wizard's Hall by Jane Yolen
Circle of Magic: Sandry's Book by Tamora Pierce
God Bless You, Mister Rosewater by Kurt Vonnegut
A Hat Full of Sky by Terry Prachett
Poems, 1909-1925 by T.S. Eliot
Billy Budd and Other Stories by Herman Melville
The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury
And okay, I've already read Wizard's Hall and Sandry's Book, but I need some easy reading or else my head will explode.
