Seriously, people actually like the movie version of Howl's Moving Castle? Tell me these people haven't read the book, because I can't comprehend how someone who's read the book could actually enjoy this movie.

Well, there went two hours of my life I'll never get back.

It's like, the perfect weather, so Mom wants to garden today and take a walk. We're gonna see OotP on Saturday, my other day off. :)

*waves hand* I did, but no, I didn't read the book, and I like it for the sheer trippiness of it - apparently the message is, "Love is fickle and that's OK"? *g*

*laughs* Yeah, that's what, er, made me unhappy with the movie, actually. Because Sophie? Is badass in the book. I missed her. And the relationship in the book is actually really neat and, well, they're actually equals.

...The fact that Howl looked like a wannabe Draco did amuse me though. *grin*

;_; I actually really liked the movie (seen it 28 times which is a little more than she would have liked to see it -_-) and I have read the book. I didn't expect it to be exactly the same because Miyazaki tends to base things very loosely on original materials. If you just think of it as a work of it's own then it's very enjoyable. ^^

Man, I loved Howl's Moving Castle, I mean LOVED IT!!! I love the animation and Howl (played by Christian Bale) had one of the sexiest voices I've heard in a long time. I didn't read the book, and I'm not sure whether I will. Sorry you feel as though you lost two hours of your life, hopefully you appreciate the animation.

I think I wasn't expecting it to be so radically different, like with different villains and whatnot. So I think maybe if I'd know it was going to be so loosely based, I would've enjoyed it more. ...Also, I was PMSy, heh.

And, I dunno, I just felt Miyazaki made Sophie a lot weaker. One thing I adore about the book is that Sophie has magic and becomes Howl's equal, rather than just his lover, you know? Man, somehow I've become a feminist. Who knows when that happened. *laughs*

Oh yes, the animation and Howl's voice was lovely. I just-- the love story in the book was a lot more interesting, and Sophie's character was a lot stronger in the book. But I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

I liked it

I just liked the images. I had no idea what was going on storywise.
