Stargate: Atlantis

The Boy Who Didn't Need Stories by [livejournal.com profile] wojelah (Gen, Radek-centric, with a hint of pre-ship Radek/Teyla)

Oh, I really have no words for how lovely this story is. It's quiet and poetic and beautiful, and there's no good way to describe it, but it made me feel so much better about my day.

Once upon a time, there lived a small boy who had no use for fairy tales. Many years later, his head pounding and blood on his shirt, opening his eyes and finding that he is sitting against a sealed bulkhead, with a ton of debris cutting three of his friends off from their only chance at safety, Radek Zelenka thinks about his grandmother, and the story of the golden bird, and realizes that he might, finally, have started to understand.

Heroes

Five Games Sylar Never Played by [livejournal.com profile] sameoldhope (Gen, Sylar-centric)

Five different AUs of what could have happened over S1. All of them are amazing and have wonderful characterization. Definitely worth a read.

There are no rules of engagement when it's a game of power.

Crossovers

Outstanding, Soldier by [livejournal.com profile] sundancekid (The Office US/Little Miss Sunshine)

I never would have thought of Frank/Toby, but oh, it works perfectly. They're both so tired, and the way they interact-- it's really an engaging and wonderful story.

He only has one student who seems at all promising: Toby Flenderson.

What The Ducklings Did On Their Summer Vacation (SGA/House, Gen)

You wouldn't think this works, but it does. The interactions were hilarious and amusing, and the entire story was quite believable.

Wherein the ducklings are recruited, captured, rescued, yelled at, and that thing they’re not going to mention again ever, and discover that brilliant jerks aren't only found on Earth.

Yes, I watch Heroes. But I've never had a plotbunny for the show (and frankly, celebrated that). However, I've been reading The Once and Future King by T.H. White and this quotation jumped out at me:

"Love is a trick played on us by the forces of evolution. Pleasure is a bait laid down by the same. There is only power. Power is of the individual mind, but the mind's power is not enough. Power of the body decides everything in the end, and only Might is Right."

*hides from the Sylar/Mohinder UST plotbunny*

So I'm going to have to pimp this: Giant Fandom Fanmix

The basic idea of this whole project is to comment with a fandom and/or fandoms you love and the songs that you associate with those fandoms. There is no limit to how many you can enter, and there's no rule that says you need to upload said songs. (it would be GREAT if you did, but I'm not going to force it).

Go check it out, download songs, check out the fandoms if you want, and maybe post a few songs of your own. :)

Here are the songs I'm giving them:

SGA

Zed - Renegade Fighter (John)

Wolf Parade - You Are a Runner and I Am My Father's Son (Ronon)

Dar Williams - By Way of Sorrow (Ronon)

Elisa - Fever (Radek to Rodney)

Five O'Clock Shadow - I'm Right (Rodney)

KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See (Teyla)

Heroes

The Eurythmics - I Saved the World Today (Peter)

Megadeth - Blood of Heroes (General)

The Weakerthans - Aside (Claude)

Jake 2.0

Semisonic - Secret Smile (Jake/Diane)

Feel free to help yourselves. :)

No. Seriously.

First, it was Rad for Radek. Just...no. Zelenka would beat anyone who tried seriously calling him that and I wouldn't blame him, because that's almost as bad as Rod (and I still giggle like a five-year-old whenever I type that for my MENSA-verse fic).

Then there was the 'ship nicknames. McLenka. McShep. McBeck. All of which make me want a Happy Meal. Can't we just go with McKay/Sheppard, McKay/Zelenka, etc? It's not THAT hard to write the full names, really!

...And now it has invaded Heroes. Now, I don't ship Heroes. I don't even really read the fanfics, because the main pairings are both incest-y for that show, and yeah...so don't see them together. But for amusement (amusement = bored out of my mind), sometimes I will read Heroes fics.

I decided to sample Sylar/Mohinder because I love train-wreck, doomed relationships. What I didn't realize was that the crap nicknames have invaded the fandom already. Mylar? Mylar? Are you freaking kidding me? I'm half-surprised it didn't end up being Molar or something.

...Do I even WANT to know what they're calling Claude/Peter? Cleter? Plaude? I think I'll 'plod' along to cry into my pillow now. *rolls eyes*

For the love of GOD, NBC!

"Simone Deveaux, an art dealer who's faith is tested at every turn."

...Seriously? Who's? It's WHOSE. You are a professional website, NBC, so please stop with the grammatical errors that make me weep and grind my teeth. Please?
